The HS Code was adopted by the World Customs Organization in 1983 as a global strategic importance regulated by international agreements for countries to manage foreign trade, control and improve the flow of goods.
The code consists of 10 digits, the first 6 of which are the international code, and the first two digits indicate the product category. The next four to six digits indicate the subcategory of the product. This system is used by more than 200 countries for customs tariff purposes and as a basis for international statistics.
